EXP FAQ
What is the Ranking system?
In order to provide an incentive to our members to be active, there is going to be a system to reward them. Our currency here at the club will be called EXP-- that's right, short for "experience points."
EXP will be displayed for each member on the Members and Admins journal. Total experience will be represented by each username like so (this is JUST an example, not literal):
Lv3 *StarDragonBlue 20/300 EXP
20 is how much EXP she can REDEEM-- think of it as money that she HAS. She can spend this "20 EXP" for special features. On the other hand, 300 EXP is the amount of EXP she has earned so far in her experience with the club; think of it as a record of all of the money she has ever had in her life. She can't use it, but she remembers the good ol' days when she did.
Lv3 refers to her Level. Every 100 EXP, our members rise one level. Thus: StarDragonBlue has 3.
Don't understand yet? Maybe it'll help if you read on!
What are the ways I can earn EXP?
- The more entrants in the contest, the more EXP they earn. For example, if we have 10 entrants, and entrant 1 gets 1st place, he earns 10 EXP. If entrant 2 earns second place, he earns 9 EXP. If entrant 3 earns 3rd place, he earns 8 EXP, and so on. In the case that several entrants get 0% of the vote, they will all be considered "whatever place" that follows the person with the last highest score. In other words: if entrants 1, 2, and 3 got first, second, and third place, and entrants 4-10 got 0% of the vote, those entrants will be considered 4th place and earn 7 EXP. (Note: Admins can earn contest EXP as well.)
- If you submit a piece of art to our gallery or to our contest, you earn 1 EXP.
- If you suggest a Pokedorks Daily Deviation piece, and we accept it, you earn 2 EXP.
- If you are awarded the Monthly Gallery Submission Raffle, you earn 4 EXP.
- If you comment on Pokedorks artwork, you will earn 2 EXP. The comment must MEAN something, however, or EXP will not be awarded (in other words, no single-phrase comments such as "nice" or "great job"-- with no REAL input on the piece in question). We'd like at least 2-3 sentences with at least 4-5 words in each, if you'd like to get technical!
- If you give a thoughtful, in-depth comment on a literature piece, you get 4 EXP (because we know how hard it is for some of you to sit down and read something and how difficult it is for writers on DA to get anyone to read anything they do). Comment notes should look the same as the ones for art, but please note it is literature and separate literature comments from art comments so that StarDragonBlue is not confused and knows how much EXP to give to each.
How will we know that you've commented? You will have to note us with comment links; it's just too big of a job to search through so many members' artwork-- we don't want to miscount, and we don't want to miss anybody who comments later. Also, only send us one note pertaining to comments a day. Please don't spam us with numerous notes or we'll send the club mascot to drool on you! - If you suggest our club to someone else, and that someone tells us that you've told them to join, you will earn 5 EXP. During the month of July, you can earn 8 EXP for referring someone (since this is Pokedork's birthday).
- If you draw our POKEMON OF THE MONTH (POM) and send a Note containing a link to the art to :devpokedorks:, you will earn 4 EXP. REMEMBER: put "Pokemon of the Month" or "POM" in the subject line! This piece will be a free submission to our gallery and will not count as your allowed monthly picture.
- We only accept a max of 5 POM per month.
- If you submit a late PoM piece, you will be able to submit it freely, with a 1 EXP prize. Only PoM from the previous month are accepted in this case.
- Likewise, if you draw our QUAGSIRE MASCOT, he is a free submission to the gallery for 4 EXP. You may submit him year-long. During July, he is worth 6 EXP. However, you can only submit 5 Quagsires per month.
- You can submit a Holiday Themed picture for 4 EXP. The time that a Holiday Themed picture is accepted is on the Shoutboard.
- If you have a good idea and suggest it to the club, you can earn two EXP and up, depending on how good it is. For example, we love good "contest ideas," but that may only be worth two or three EXP points. If you give us a GREAT idea that, say, turns the club on its head, we may award even more!
- If you find a typographical, grammatical, or factual error in any of the journals of Pokedorks, bring it to the attention of StarDragonBlue and you can earn anywhere from 1 to 10 EXP, depending on how important it is.
- StarDragonBlue will keep up with your total points. Once you have achieved 100 EXP points, you will "rise" a level! Pokedorks who gain a level will get to have a piece of their artwork as our Featured Deviation for one week and be a Featured Artist at the top of the journal.
- You can earn points by sending Pokemon cards to Peachfuzz. Uneven numbers of cards will have points rounded up or down depending on the quality of the cards.
- 10 Commons = 1 EXP
- 5 Uncommons = 1 EXP
- 1 Rare/Holographic/Promo = 1 EXP
REDEEM THOSE POINTS!
You can redeem your EXP by noting :devpokedorks: with "Redeem EXP" in the subject. Once redeemed, the points will be removed from your inventory. We'll still know how many you've had overall (which count towards gaining a level).
Redeem your EXP for the following prizes:
- For 5 EXP, members can submit an extra piece of art to the club gallery.
- For 15 EXP, you can decide what our Pokemon of the Month is.
- For every 150 EXP, you can earn a one month subscription or a print of equivalent price! (Availability of this award depends on the financial status of the club admins.)
- For every 300 EXP, you can earn a 3 month subscription or a print of equivalent price! (Availability of this award depends on the financial status of the club admins.)
EXP COMMISSIONS
You can exchange your EXP with one of the following Pokedorks members in order to receive a piece of Pokemon-related art or literature. You will see an A or an L below their icon (or both). A means that this person will draw in exchange for EXP; L means that this person will write literature. Each person has named their price for each kind of literature/art that they will do, but EXP prices may vary according to what kind of art you desire.
How to Commission
- You must have enough EXP before you request art or literature. Do not ask for very highly priced requests if you do not have enough; we will not wait for you to make up the difference.
- Commission offers should start off with you Noting the artist of your choice. Once you have both figured out what you want, make the decision formal and public by posting in the Artists for Hire Forum. Make clear the amount of EXP being spent and the kind of art/literature being bought. Both users must post and make it clear that the decision was mutual.
- When the work has been finished, the artist/writer should return to the forum and post the link to the work.
- The artist should then note Pokedorks and request the EXP transfer, adding a link to the forum agreement.
- The EXP will be transferred by StarDragonBlue.

EXP REMOVAL
- 10 EXP is removed when a member asks their friends to vote for them in a Pokedorks Contest. We want all of our members to vote fairly; otherwise, we are reduced to a popularity contest.
- Feel free to fave ORIGINAL pieces by the ORIGINAL artists. Do NOT fave art hosted here at Pokedorks. The first time you fave here, you will be warned. Every time thereafter, you will have 5 EXP removed each time you fave something on our account. Note: We do understand if you made a mistake and unfaved immediately after faving; we will check each piece of art before we remove EXP.
- Bad behavior means a certain amount of EXP will be removed. This is a feature we'll hopefully NEVER have to use, as all Pokedorks seem to be good natured, polite sorts. However, just in case it is necessary, we will use our EXP system as a form of punishment if someone gets out of line-- flaming other members, for example. The amount of EXP removed will depend on the severity of the action. If the rotten user is not a Pokedork, then he will be reported (remember, members should NEVER get in a verbal fight with ANY member!), and if the user is a brand new member with no EXP, he will either be reprimanded or removed from the club.
